VERDAMMT! the last of my older hens died today! she must have fell from the perch. she was lying stretched out with long neck. she was fine yesterday- not sick.

I'm so sorry! I'm sure it's nothing you did, sometimes bad things are unpreventable. How old was she? She may have died in her sleep and fallen off? So sorry for your loss!

same as the last- 3years. she was a bit slow but yet fine
she is the first one not to die on a 20 something date! the 20s are unlucky!

Oh nooooo! It's best when they go quickly tho. For them as well as you.
Were you brave enough to post-mortem your poorly chicken after she died? I find it's (usually) reassuring that it was nothing you could help with. And sometimes it gives you useful experience that could help in the future. That annoying chicken body is no longer your lovely chicken. Just a defective body that couldn't keep her (or him) alive. I always need to know why. But maybe that's just me.
