I have either 3 or 4 types of Red Chicks. At almost 3 weeks, one of them is not very feathery compared to all of his sisters and brothers. Anybody have an idea.

I can identify my RIRs and NHRs (I think), but this guy has me stumped. Very dark feathers coming in like the RIR's, and the head is a little bit lighter like the NHR's. But he is over a week behind all of them.

Here he is (Pretty shy, and hard to get a photo of today.) Still wearing his down stole.

Probably a male since all of my female reds ordered were RIRs or NHRs... The rest unknown breed males.

And here are some of his siblings

Even best guesses would be great..... Thank you

Oh, I forgot to say that all of my unknown reds are from a mix of 25 all males.... I am thinking you mean the sex-linked type, but the males are predominently white I think.

Or do you mean another besides sex-linked red.

Thanks for helping me. I am totally confused about this one.

Thanks. I didn't realize the distinction between. I purchased from Murray McMurray. I don't remember an actual production red. But perhaps I am not seeing the possible wordings that they may use. I know they have Red Star, but that is a sex link.

I have wondered if the hatchery that they use may also be hatching for others who have other specifications of what they sell. Then there may be a possibility of something they don't list on the site.

Or do they actually have their own hatchery for the poultry. When I read between the lines, it seems that they may use several hatcheries (or perhaps I mean hatchery locations) for their other poultry and game birds.
