What is that??? Picture included**

I gave one of my girls a half bath bc she had poop all over her butt. I cut the feathers in the winter but it didn't help much. This is the first time I've done it so maybe this is normal but what is that white thing under her vent? Belly button? It's white, looks like a worm and has something sticking out of it. Does she need to go to the vet?
She acts normal but her or my other Sussex laid 2 soft shell eggs last week. Not sure if that's related.

Just a thought...but could it be the preening gland? Maybe not. I believe the gland is actually above the vent.

Could it be an ingrown feather? Did you find out what it is?

I think it might be an ingrown hair! The little part that was sticking out ended up being a feather. Do I need to worry about the round shaped part?

I don't know the answer to that but I would just keep an eye on it.
