What is the average age of store bough eggs? *Right forum??*

ive heard something around 3-4 weeks by the time they are on the shelf ready for sale... can you imagine 4 week old meat? i tell this to my friends and they shrug their noses and say "give me some eggs then!!!!"

I saw a segment on Dateline one time that stated stores will pull eggs with a expired date, send them back to the supplier, and then supplier repackages with a new date. GROSS! That is a good reason not to buy eggs from the store.
