What Is the best breed to go Broody

Buff Orps are a pretty good size bird....they lay brown eggs...and from what I hear, they will lay through the winter. Thats why I got them, I cant keep up with the egg orders around here where Ilive. According to MM...the Hatchery I got mine from....At Maturity...Males will weigh in about 10 pounds...females 8 pounds. This is my first year with them...and they are 2 weeks old. IM IN LOVE

with my babies already. Very friendly..and love to cuddle. Good luck on whatever you decide!

Standard Dark Cornish. I can't give them anything that looks like a nest or deep litter or they plop down and sit. Very good moms, and excellent on the nest. They can do about 8 large eggs.

I am constantly kicking my serama's out of the nest, they will sit on anything! I have used them to hatch out call duck eggs and they were great moms, though they were a little confused why their "chicks" kept climbing in the water dish!

I have read that Old English Game Hens express broodiness almost 100%. They are also supposed to be attentive and protective mothers, as well as good at foraging and evading predators.

I know that my OEGB are very broody through the summer and make great moms as long as they dont have to many chicks.
