Foraging ability, predator awareness, moderate egg laying, good temperament, exotic features and behaviors, and origin.

Of the 4 I've owned, Ayam Cemani are at the bottom. Mystic Onyx and Mosaics (not accepted breeds, but seem to breed true from my reading) are both great, if you don't need brooding hens. Silkies are great if you want a hen that tends to go broody, but not if you want a bird for anything else

Wow, that's great. I didn't know Mystic Onyxes bred true? I thought they were a crosses?

They breed true as much as can be hoped for. Black feathers, black skin, polydactylism, etc. What they show are all pretty dominant traits. Even with mixed fathers, I can tell who is out of my Mystic hens because they pass down the black skin
