What is the Best Pet chicken?

I predict a LOT of different answers here. My advice is that it's all in the raising. It doesn't really matter what breed they are as long as you hold them and love them from the minute you see them.

Just to play devil's advocate here. I have 9 Buff Orpington's and while all were raised the same, and none are downright mean (depending on who you ask, for whatever reason my wife and son have some issues with the roosters, but I don't), I have only 2 hens that will follow me around, and only 1 that will actually come to you to be held. I think it has more to do with the particular birds personality than how they were raised, excepting that if you treat them poorly none of them will like you.

My buff orpington is really quite standoffish. I spend a lot of time with the birds and this one in particular doesn't seem interest in human interaction. One of my two mottled houdans is quite friendly, as is my sicilian buttercup. My co-worker also got a sicilian buttercup and his kids think that breed and the araucanas are excellent pets. I have three polish roosters and they are all fine - I am sure polish hens would be even better.

Yeah, I have heard good things about how friendly Buff Orpingtons are in the past. My friend raves about how much he used to love his.

Barred rocks by far!
