I am chemically sensitive as well. I have never heard of baking soda for cleaning hair, but would like to try. Sorry to sound silly, but how to do go about it?I am chemically sensitive. Lucky me.Anything that has a smell, I can't use. I stopped using shampoo and switched to baking soda. It cleans my hair, doesn't smell like funeral flowers and it is CHEAP!![]()
There may or may not be a connection but my husband read the "Wheat Belly" book about all the problems associated with gluten and stopped eating it about 6 months ago. Recently we noticed his hair is growing back and he has been bald for about ten years. He is elated. 'Maybe I better start raising silkies,I seen some pink ones on here hmm...![]()
I actually am getting a hardly noticable thin area on the top of my head and get itching bad after I wash it and maybe I should have been more specific but would like a proven shampoo or soap that will not itch and usually itching is a sign of hair loss or is associated with it. I am still a ways from balding but would like to keep what I have as balding is not in our family.
I just pour a couple of tablespoons in a PLASTIC cup and wet my hair, then rub the baking soda in. I massage my scalp and because I can never pour it out without getting water in the cup, I rinse the cup and pour that over my head. I no longer wash my hair every day either. It stays cleaner longer. Be aware when you stop using commercial shampoos, your hair might have a "withdrawal" and get really greasy for awhile. Don't give in to the greasies, it will pass as your scalp gets used to no longer being assaulted by chemical concotions.I am chemically sensitive as well.
