What is the best shampoo?

Well... those funky silkies don't have 'real' feathers... they're all hairy anyway.....

Pantene's products seem to make my hair fall out more than shampooing with most any other. Many standard brand soaps and shampoos make me itch -- no rash, just itchy. I'm not real big on "organic' or "natural," but I find if I buy a brand like Aubrey Organics or JASON shampoo, that has no unrecognizable chemicals on the label, I have no problems. Another option is Dr. Bonner -- pure castile (I believe,) needs diluting; also comes with an added natural oil. I can also use Suave shampoos without a problem, and it's certainly cheaper than organic brands.

Next thing we know, chickened will be out there picking up molted feathers and making a wig.........trying to convince us that it is real hair!!

I like the Dove products. I have incredibly thin and easily damaged hair and that works great on it. I also use an Avon shampoo/conditioner for the damage repair my hair desperately needs.

Maybe I better start raising silkies,

I seen some pink ones on here hmm...

I actually am getting a hardly noticable thin area on the top of my head and get itching bad after I wash it and maybe I should have been more specific but would like a proven shampoo or soap that will not itch and usually itching is a sign of hair loss or is associated with it. I am still a ways from balding but would like to keep what I have as balding is not in our family.

I have no idea if itching is a sign of potential hair loss, but could be some kind of scalp condition. Male pattern baldness is I believe an inherited characteristic. Never mind though, we have a saying here, 'Grass doesn't grow on a busy street'. Does this mean that those with full heads of hair are slow thinkers? Maybe.

I am chemically sensitive. Lucky me.

Anything that has a smell, I can't use. I stopped using shampoo and switched to baking soda. It cleans my hair, doesn't smell like funeral flowers and it is CHEAP!
I am chemically sensitive as well. I have never heard of baking soda for cleaning hair, but would like to try. Sorry to sound silly, but how to do go about it?

There may or may not be a connection but my husband read the "Wheat Belly" book about all the problems associated with gluten and stopped eating it about 6 months ago. Recently we noticed his hair is growing back and he has been bald for about ten years. He is elated. '

I just pour a couple of tablespoons in a PLASTIC cup and wet my hair, then rub the baking soda in. I massage my scalp and because I can never pour it out without getting water in the cup, I rinse the cup and pour that over my head. I no longer wash my hair every day either. It stays cleaner longer. Be aware when you stop using commercial shampoos, your hair might have a "withdrawal" and get really greasy for awhile. Don't give in to the greasies, it will pass as your scalp gets used to no longer being assaulted by chemical concotions.
