What is the best way to break an agressive hen?

I have a nasty hen who is an unrepentant bully to other chickens. She knows better than to mess with me, though. I am the giver of life but I am also the taker of life, so don't try my patience. Nasty birds are usually going to remain nasty birds for their lifespan. I'd try some of the posted methods, but put a time limit on how long you are willing to tolerate being attacked in your own yard. If she reaches the end of the time limit and hasn't reformed then she'd go to freezer camp. There are too many good birds that need a home to put up with a bully and a brute.

And Keens2050 has the right of it- nothing tastes as good as an animal that's been irritating you for months/years.

Carry the hen around under your arm while you do chores....at least a half hour. Do this every day, or several tiems a day if necessary. They learn quick that you are the boss.

Integrate her into another flock, the beating she'll take from the other hens will knock her down off her high horse.

I seperated the mean bird for a few days. Then when I bring her back I will squirt her in the face with a squirt bottle if she goes after anyone. It's kind of like a peck but wont hurt them and they don't realize who is doing it to them so they stay away from everyone.
