What is the best way to hatch shipped eggs????

Yup, that makes sense! I have one external pip!!! It looks like 4 of the 7 eggs just died 2 days ago and 3 are fully developed! I placed the 3 on their sides and I am hoping for the best!!

I will update when I have news!

I have 16 shipped amerucana eggs on day 14 with some really weird shaped air cells. All are developing so nicely though! I'm going to be hatching them in a cut down egg carton. Best of luck to everyone hatching shipped eggs!

Well out of 8 Silkies that went into lockdown, one looked like it died on day 18/19, ..that was also the worst a it cell of that group..another was turned odd in the egg and had an air cell that was a bit iffy..2 have completely hatched and are walking around, another has almost hatched, just resting for that final push and the final 3 are pipped, breathing and peeping away ..yes I am very bad..I opened the bator countless times, made air holes in a couple eggs..I broke all the rules. .I don't recommend it but was too afraid with them being on Day 22 and not much happening I was afraid to lose them

I'm debating on this or propping the entire hatcher up on one end..my biggest fear with the carton is them zipping..have you ever had them not be able to turn to zip? that's what I'm worried about..it just seems unnatural to me, but I guess no more so than them being rocked in a turner end up..

The only problem I've heard of is the occasional pip on the wrong end. I've never experienced that though I'm only on my 2nd hatch.

I have 13 various breeds that just went into lock down..I left them upright in cartons, so I'll let everyone know when they hatch what the results are of this way versus the Silkies that just hatched out that were laid on their sides ♡

So cute!! Where'd you get the silkies from? Were they shipped? I've been reading debates on whether or not the shape of their heads play a role in hatch rate!

Well, I have 1 baby that hatched so far. I have a feeling that the 2 remaining eggs are not going to hatch. I plan to give this baby to a broody hen who has been sitting on eggs for a month. I am sure she will be pleased to finally have a baby!

How should I introduce the chick to her? He is drying off now!

Wait until dark and everyone is "sleeping" and slip him under her. I did that last year and the broody responded immediately, slightly lifting up so as not to crush the little babies.

Also might want to remove the eggs she has been sitting on else she will be reluctant to leave the nest, course you don't have to do it tonight but realize she will be reluctant to leave the nest if she thinks there are more eggs waiting to hatch.

I just went up to her, lifted her up a bit and I put the chick under her wing and removed the eggs. She seems to have immediately excepted IT, she even pecked my hand later when I tried to check on the chick!

Do I have to give her a heat lamp? Mind you it is 33 C outside! Lol! Will she keep the chick warm enough?
