What is the best way to hatch shipped eggs????

If you see blood while opening the egg, stop and wait a few hours for the membrane to dry out.

Good luck!

I am going to have to peak into the one I have seen movement in and do eggtopsies on the others tomorrow.  My chickens are just now 5 months old, so I'm looking forward to giving eggs to any broodies I have.  I have a question about broody hens.  Have you guys/gals noticed a particular personalities in broody hens?  I have one hen who is very shy, and I don't know why, but I think she will be my mommy hen.

I've only ever had Silkies go broody, but from my experience it seems my meanest were always the ones that went broody more often. I figure other breeds thst aren't so naturally laid back are different

If you're not offended by this and it's not too late, take pics when you do the eggtopsy so we can maybe figure out what's going on

Too late The one that showed movement was fully formed but was soaking wet. I am assuming it drowned, which means I had the humidity too high. If I ever incubate eggs again (right now I'm thinking no), I will take your advice and incubate dry and then watch the humidity carefully during lockdown. I have been using a hygrometer/thermometer I purchased from a cigar shop. I calibrated it when I first purchased it.

I'm going to go on vacation, maybe try to pick up some chicks on my way home, and try to recover from being a incubator loser (sniff).

You are not an incubator loser. You are learning how to incubate. It's a matter of calibrating your hygrometer and thermometers, and getting some good, fertile, back yard eggs, and trying again. If you haven't yet read it, check out "Hatching 101" in the Learning Center. It will give you lots of info about calibration, dry incubation, and plenty of other topics which will put you in a position to have a successful hatch the next time.

No!! You are not a incubator loser!!!
One of us could get a 100% hatch and another do the EXACT same and it could be a complete failure. .every location, egg, incu and house/room where the incubator is are different. .which means there is no perfect method..it's trial and error for all of us.. I wont even go through all the mistakes I made.. heck, I tried to use a 10 gallon aquarium lined with insulation and laid a heating pad in the bottom..I put duck eggs in, got them started nice and then cooked them about 2 weeks in..
But I can tell you from experience that incubating dry leaves more room for error when it comes to humidity. And if you want more eggs, I've got an order going out tomorrow hopefully (if the girls cooperate) but then I can start collecting for you if you want. Layers, EEs and sweet black banties..just cover the shipping (never been over $15)
Don't be hard on yourself..we've ALL made mistakes..if there's someone out there that says they've had perfect hatches from their first time, they're lying ;)

And yes, have a great vacation!! Forget all about hatching and humidity readings. .clear your mind ♡♡ We will be here when you get back

Check out this candling pic! This egg is so transparent. I can't stop looking at it! Lol...check out the FEET! Btw, I checked my 12 eggs real quick & all are still alive! Today is day 12!

My lil banty eggs are like that sometimes, especially the ones out of my blackest..polish eggs are really white too..which I think also contributes to them always handling shipped badly.. it's only D4 for my Polish, my app is saying D11 for ones I set with yours but think I set later that day and it doesn't turn over days until the exact minute

The pic reminds me of that fake pic with a baby's hand or foot showing pushing on the moms belly. Only the real version .lol..
