what is the difference ?

I bought these white-ish quails with a dark spot on the back of the head. are they james marie or texas a&m? is there a way to find out? i was told they are coturnix, the are the same size as my jumbo brown ones. thanks in advance. i literally know nothing about bird keeping

A&Ms are Coturnix. They aren't different species/breeds, just different colors. White with head spot is A&M; they were bred to be a meat bird, and that's what a lot of people keep them for.

As far as I know, James Marie is a farm that specializes in XL meat birds and large egg layers. So while they might be selectively breeding for huge Pharaoh or A&M Coturnix, they aren't themselves a different variety.
