What is the dosage?

Hi all,

My Safeguard Goat dewormer finally arrived at the feed store. It is fenbendazole 10%.I can not find the conversions that DragonLady had given to do the treatment on my birds. Does anyone know? This is an oral suspension.

Also, can I give it to them in water? How does CC convert to ml? Can I give 4 week old chicks the same dosage as the pullets?

And last but not least- it was supposed to cover ALL worms but is reading that it only covers 2

Safeguard goat wormer is 100 mg per ml or cc. The dosage for most chickens is 20 mg per kg (or each 2.2 lb.) Roughly the dose is a little over 1/2 ml for a regular chicken, 1/4 ml for a banty, less for a chick (maybe 1/8 ml), and 3/4 ml for a very large chicken. Are you sure you need to worm 4 week old chicks yet? It seems too early to me. Dawg53 is the worm expert.

10mg of the 10% stuff per kg of animal, but 20mg is still well within the safe range. It is a very safe drug as far as overdosing is concerned. 10mg/kg every day for 5 days is needed for certain types of worms, it works better than one strong dose but is a bit of a pain.

Yes, 1 ml does equal 1cc. The dose my avian vets told me to use is 50mg/kg (.5ml per 2.2 pounds) and repeat in ten days. I have wormed young chicks, but I also had a reason to, a disease called blackhead. If you are going to worm your chicks they will need to be weighed and dosed based on their weight.
