What is the favorite treat for Toulouse Geese?

I Might also add for the close keeper's.I live in farm country here and there are MANY pond's around on propertie's and the geese and duck's are raised natural. They do Not depend on daily human contact for food and forage naturaly.Treat's of food the animal's greatly appreciate and shouldn't be given on a reg. basis unless you plan on housing the bird long time.Sorry had to clear that up on my end.

Indeed...certainly never meant to imply feeding geese a diet consisting of only bread and dog food...but for a treat or to get them to bond, bread is a favorite. I believe that was the original question....

UPDATE: These 4 geese have only been here for 5 days, just 5 days. They have been distant and seemed nervous. The largest and noisy one, thought to be a drake surprised the heck out of me yesterday.

As I approached him he stood his ground, lowered his head and stretched out his neck. I kept tossing small bits of bread. He finally picked up a piece. I crouched down and held one out... I was shocked.. he walked over and took it from my hand and as he turned and slowly walked away, I pet him on his back. Amazing... at least to me. I continued to toss bread and 2 of the others began to eat the bread.... this was so cool.

We have had our 6 Muscovies for a little over two weeks. They are now paying close attention to us when we walk into their yard. One of them will consistently eat watermelon from my wife's hand and they are now following us around the yard. I am sure loving this stuff.

Oh, they are all getting used to my dog, a 2 year old GSD, whom is a perfect gentleman around the birds.... with me there, so I am always there. LOL I feed Falco a raw diet, an ingredient is a quarter raw chicken (store bought) at each meal. I don't think he's put it all together yet, or I guess he would consider the girls are walking snacks, instead of grumpy and occasionally rude buddies.

For their reward for being such good kids, I bought two children pools on Friday... wow, they sure appreciated it. First the ducks took turns, then the Geese. One goose flew out of the pool, this apparently was not unnoticed by one of the ducks, so he too flew out of the pool. One of the geese turned upside down in the water and showed me his rump... I think that might have been a message to the ducks. ;>)

I hope to have their sheds finished by next weekend. A neighbor needed about 30 minutes of tractor work.... in trade, he gave me five unused 100' rolls of welded wire fence...... what a great weekend!

It is really exciting around here for this rookie.... thank you all for your help in getting me this far.

Cheers,

Dan

It sounds like they will come around and may end up being very good loving pets! My geese will eat out of my hands but they will not tolerate me touching them yet.
I use large cement mixing tubs for their pools and when filled with fresh water it is much appreciated. I have one that will flip around and around in her fresh pool. I still want to grab the camera and video it.
enjoy your new babies!

Kudos to you and how you've progressed!! I was gonna mention pools...but you figured it out..you're gonna be a good goose daddy!! I have a beware of goose sign....not all get nasty tempered? and for me, the Ganders get/turn meaner it seems, before the goose do. We keep geese for flock protection...as they alert and lower their heads and charge if threatened. The lowering of the head is kinda of a warning deal. My geese will not charge my self or my husband? but I do not let any small children or folks who are obviously intimidated by them in the bird domain alone....I either go with or herd the geese to their holding pen I keep just for that purpose. Thought I'd give you a heads up on that whole experiance in case yours may act out.
