Hi! What is the gender of this spitzhauben chick? 13w3d old (hatched may 29). Really hoping this one is a girl! Thanks in advance! Not seeing any roo saddle feathers yet.

I am no expert and I know nothing about that breed, however considering the age, comb and feathers I see a pullet. But do not take my word for it.

No don’t tell me that I just paid $20 for “her” for a mate for my boy

I could be wrong but these feathers are what’s leading me to believe it’s a cockerel .

Hopefully “she” is just more male looking I’ll update in a week or 2 with new pics. We will see. Thank you for your responses!

Within two or three weeks it should start getting male specific feathering at the saddle and shoulder if it is male. I think it is best to wait a while longer, because this bird is showing mixed signs at this point.

I agree, this one's a doozy. Some more time should make it clearer. I didn't recognize you due to the profile picture change, cute pup!

Update, he is a boy. No pic, but I can see rooster feathering coming in under existing feathers at his lower back and neck.
