Here's one photo from the festival. I forgot to tell you all what happened. I was busy so tomorrow, with a mugshot Monday, I will tell you.

This is not reassuring to me or @ChicoryBlue who will be getting Plus-sized normal roosters.

Did I mention the Plus-sized?

Hey! Normal-sized! It's some others that may be Petite-sized...

I'm noticing Shehnai is very interested in his rooster duties. He seems to be more alert than the pullets. He is more often looking at the sky and standing tall looking around while they mosey about. He gives warning grunts often and everybody pays attention. He does see the flying large birds when they're off on the horizon in the woods, way before they get overhead. He doesn't differentiate between crows, vultures and hawks. So I see it that he's wired to quickly assess and act.

He is chill around me so far, investigating with the pullets all my clothes. Because they've all been more wary about handling than the two BO's, I am lightly touching their rear fluff, even pulling a little, and lightly picking their neck feathers like I am grooming them to get them to be used to it, and he lets me do that too. I was sitting with them and he carefully and lightly pulled a leaf out of my hair. I did handle one of three escape-artist pullets yesterday to get her back under the netting, she objected, then stood still and quietly on the ground while I gently restrained & talked to her, then held her snugly to put under the net. She bokked a bit and Shehnai paid close attention but did nothing else. I managed to herd the other two. He had been following and sort of herding the lone pullet around who was desperately searching the edge of the net trying to join them. We'll see!

By the way, Tedi and Annie are serious snuggle-hounds. Despite Tedi's hard moult underway she wants to be hugged on my lap. Diane's fear-based aggression is one thing, but I would NOT say the larger breeds are in general somehow meaner! @Sylvester017

View attachment 4235998comb is really odd. Sort of straight, sort of pea, not really either...

Hopefully will catch up on this thread. Saw this because of notification....that comb does not look anything like the pea combs I've seen here with Buckeyes. There are variations, but here they've all been nubbly one way or another - little rows of them, or a middle row bigger, or just a single but nubbly row. A big nubbin at the back....
But this comb has definite points. For 15-16 weeks especially, not a pea comb by Buckeye standards. An early laying breed? The comb is pretty pink. Maybe when it started what are now points looked like nubbins at first. I could see that.

Haven't had a chance to post the past few days

After the rain I tossed out some straw flakes and scattered wormies for them to scratch around

Louis. He's so very handsome. I'm hoping he and Riddick become friends when I reintegrate.

Vuitton is all pins. Thankfully she's hitting her 15 week molt and hopefully her full plume shall return. I'll give her another coat of blue paint before reintegrating when these feathers open.

Louis is very attentive to her which is nice.

I am a day late for pony or shrimpy Sunday but it's not my fault, blame the babies.

Woke up this morning to baby snails everywhere and more hatching as we speak. It took them 2 weeks and 2 days to start hatching.
