What is the lowest percentage of protein you go with for the cornish x

8 weeks is optimal but we have let them go much longer if we have too. Sometimes the processing has to be put off. We have let some go 20 - 28 weeks before. Giant chickens. LOL

Are you pasturing your current batch of broilers? I am just curious how they handle the weather this time of year. I don't seem to have good results in cold damp weather.

No, it's just too cold. I have them in a 16 x 16 area and they are 4 weeks old. I'm not sure how long this space will last for 300 chicks but I'm going to have to figure something out.

If the weather stays nice I will be ok... but we are on the edge with the weather. Being next to the Great Lakes it can snow anytime it dips below 32 degrees. Lake effect is a pain in the butt as it can drop a foot overnight and really screw things up.
