What is the Makeup of This Hen? Thought I Knew, but...

chickendales, I actually hatched her from a blue egg sent to me as an extra freebie in a batch--she didn't come from a hatchery. The only supposed possibilities were BBS Ameraucana or BLRW x BBS Ameraucana--she sure isn't a Wyandotte cross from that lean body, so I'm thinking either a Sumatra rooster popped in for a visit or there might have been an Ameraucana that wasn't pure.

Tara, I sure see it in your hen compared with Tiny. Glad to see you on one of my threads! Been a long time since I sent you eggs, hasn't it?

She kind of looks like my hen Joe, IDK what she is, all the BYCers could guess was GameX. She lays a pink egg. I don't know what she came from or how old she is. She's from my cousin's flock of mixed poultry.
She is VERY mouthy, and if I walk in the pen while she's laying an egg, she'll come out and yell at me the whole time(also get the stink eye) until I leave.

She looks a lot like my Sumatra hen. My "Turkeylegs" is one of my best layers and lays a small "tinted" egg.

After the listing ran out, I asked DH if he wanted me to relist her or did he just want to deal with her and maybe put her in the bantam coop, which will have a covered pen. He said we'll just keep her and coddle her--yeah, he will coddle her. He already does, even though he gets angry with her when she pitches a tantrum. And you should see those tantrums! That girl could be dangerous if she went postal on another bird! She is about 4 lb and I have a Silver Phoenix pullet who should turn out to be about the same size, so they can both live with the bantams.

They're used as shelters when I tie out my penned up cocks; teathering allows them a bit of ranging and I don't have to worry about them fighting with each other. Used to just keep them tied out, but I have had to stop due to predator loss when I lost my guard dog.

My free range hens and muscovy ducks like to make nests in them and lay eggs.
