What is the most eggs you have hatched out in a bator at one time?

Sure thing. I just get egg cartons, cut the tops off, set my eggs, and then transfer the while carton to the hatcher. Easy, cheesy. Then toss the egg cartons when you are done.

Out of chicken eggs I think i've only hatched around 2 dozen at once. Now for quail eggs a few people got to see the chaos of my 200 coturnix eggs broadcasted on my webcam. At least until the windows completely fogged from all the moisture of that many chicks hatching at once. I have never had an egg fail to hatch just because it got knocked around. I try to always leave at least 1 chick in the bator even when some are ready to come out because all the banging around and peeping encourages the others to hatch. Chicks hatch faster and closer together that way.

I have also done carton hatches for various reasons and had no trouble with it. They tend to pip in better places than when not hatched in cartons. I did have one pip low but he still managed to hatch.

OK I am going to try that.

Which are best, pulp or foam cartons, and do I need to cut the bottoms off (I think I read that somewhere)

Akane: what do people do with all those quail that you hatch out? I see alot of quail mail.
