What is the MOST "uneducated" thing you have ever heard?

(Girl driving Jeep Grand Cherokee, her parents vehicle) Oh, I drive that big truck. I won't have any trouble in the snow. I go as fast as I want.

One week later... Jeep's back end smashed up. Girl nowhere to be found.

I know that isn't a truck, so don't tell me!

I laughed so hard I couldn't even answer her. And when I recovered I just said, "We like vultures around here. They keep the duck population down."

Needless to say, she was horrified.

I have two ... neither ducky related ... sorry ...

Back when I was in 4-h (in the 70s) we would sleep in the cow barn in a hammock. As I was dozing and a friend was doing the evening milking, a family from Cleveland came through. The mom looked at her young son (probably 7 or 8) and said "that is where your milk comes from". The kid quickly looked at his mom and informed her that his milk "came from Lawsons"! To say the least, my friend almost fell off her milking stool and I, literally, fell out of the hammock giggling! Makes me sad some days to realize many kids are so far removed from the reality of their food. We did have a long talk with the young man about the milking process. And he got to do a little. After the giggles subsided! We still giggle over the story, and see it unfold even today at the fairs.

Second ... just recently ... someone on BYH informed us (it is cold here in Ohio) that it is better to use tepid water than hot in the winter... it takes longer to freeze apparently. I did giggle ... and then sent it to my mother so she could start using tepid water on her buns too to help with the frozen bowls! NOT!

A recent high school graduate who had just received an "A" in zoology wanted to know how the male fertilized the egg if I picked them up right after the hen laid them (she thought they were fertilized after they were laid).

A college friend came to see my horse once. When he started to graze she said: He actually eats the grass right off the ground?

Then their was the time I took my disabled crested duck to work and a coworker thought I was mean for making him wear the funny hat.

These are too funny. It's too bad that where eggs and meat come from isn't taught in schools. The ideal situation would be for every kid to spend their summers on a farm.
