The colour in cochins is usually called Mille Fleur. They are still in the project stage in US.
If you look at this thread you will see that a lot of people are working on developing this colour in US. The people are working together & getting some nice results. Good Luck.
I think its more like spangled. There isn't the background color different between males and females. I think genetically, they are more like spangleds than they are millie fluer.
UK Speckled Sussex are on wheaten (eWh) & are the mille fleur pattern with mahogany. They have a rich even red ground colour, both males & females.
I don't know about Speckled Sussex in US; they, seeingly, are on duckwing (e+).
