What is the purpose of swans 🦢

You can eat their eggs, but they are only seasonal layers, so you won't get very many. Most people prefer to hatch or sell their eggs rather than eat them since swans are so expensive. Swan is also a delicacy in some countries but again, they are expensive so they are mainly just pretty pond ornaments.
Oh ok could they be with other waterfowl geese and ducks? How big of a pond do they need? How many swans would I need to get?

You'd need to get at least a pair since swans form strong bonds with each other. I've personally never owned swan before but I'd assume they could live in the same pond as other waterfowl but they'd mostly keep to themselves. From the little reading I've done it seems a 1/4 of an acre is the minimum advisable pond size.

They need a big pond. We had one in my old neighborhood that was part of a condo complex so it took up the full length and almost half the width of the four condos. I’m bad with eyeballing measurements but I’d say the pond was at least 60’x25’. We loved to go for walks by the pond except in the spring when the female built her nest. Then the male would get very protective and try to attack my dogs. They had to put a tarp along the fence (because of course she nested next to the sidewalk) to keep the male from attacking people. All that to say…I think they are kind of a luxury bird like peacocks. You have to have the right setup and LOTS of space. But then they are lovely to watch and I think the cygnets sell for decent money.

Okay thank you
