What is the red thing on the liver?

My best guess is that it's just part of a liver.

The livers from my chickens are all that dark red color.
I don't like the looks of those pale ones!

Never have I actually looked at them when I buy them. I wasn't concerned but just wanted to know. Lalo what would the color differences mean. These are probably from meat birds...I'd guess.

I don't know for sure. Maybe anemic?
Were they frozen then defrosted? Maybe freezer burn?

they are older, the blood has drained .

That very dark actually looks like lung to me. just the color.
