We are looking at getting a couple Nigerians (one doe and one buck) because i read that their milk is pretty close to a cows milk. We are going to START with one 80x80 space because the rolls of goat fencing are usually 330ft. We are also planning to have a house for them that can be closed at night because we have a coyote problem in our area as well as a mountain lion from time to time. I should also note that we want to get both at a young age so we can have a lil more say in their temperament.
Would it be ok to take the goats back and forth between two pens?
We have 5 wooded acres and were planning to have two pens in two different areas of our property for them, we cant make a very large pen because our property has a creek going down the middle.
When we put up the fence are metal t posts sufficient? How far apart should we space the posts? Country life is still fairly new to both of us so we are both learning a LOT!
We chose Nigerians for the milking, I had read that you need to breed your doe from time to time to be able to keep milking her and rather than try to find a buck to breed her we just assume have our own buck.
Any advice?
