What is the very best kitten food & what makes it best?

You might also try allogrooming your cats. Put socks over your hands and rub your kittens cheeks like you are a mother cat grooming them. Then use those same socks for your two established cats, and then back again on the kittens. Social grooming is important for kitties, and you can get them started. Also, once you go for the full-blown introduction, make sure you have sufficient "resources" for all the cats to minimalize fighting (other than establishing a hierarchy). Five litter boxes, multiple food and water bowls (food and water bowls should not be together, should be apart), new cheap scratching posts for establishing turf (cheap $7 ones from Trader Joe's are great). Just some unsolicited advice

Gotcha on the litterboxes (we went through this when we brought home BSH #2 and introduced him to #1)...and now that we don't have a dog (we lost our beloved Corgi two weeks ago

) who thinks litter boxes are for shopping for crap-cycles! we are free to put litterboxes all over the place! LOL!

Currently the older cats are fed once per day...and the kittens twice (plus dry kibble for whenever - don't know how that will work, yet so the older ones don't eat it, but we'll figure it out)...so they will likely be all fed seperately.

Thanks for the info about not putting water dishes by food......coincidentally, ours (food/water dishes) are not close together (cats eat on a shelf so that the dog couldn't eat thier food - and that will remain even without the dog)....though I wonder why that is recommended. And we have 3 Drinkwells in the house.

We went to Big Lots and purchased some scratching posts (in addition to the two we had for the big boys)...and Tuesday our new Armarkat "tree" arrives....so we will have two of them in separate areas of the house.

Glad to hear any more advice - you never know what you don't know!

Thanks!

If you get tired of using Drinkwells, I highly recommend the Catit fountain. $17 with free shipping from Amazon. I got tired of cleaning the Drinkwells and had issues with hard water buildup (even only using filtered water). The Catit fountain doesn't have any splashing noises like we did with our Drinkwells, holds a lot of water (no need for the cumbersome reservoirs) the cats don't step in it and flick water, it gets less dirty because the water is up off the ground, and the cats seem to drink from it a lot more. And it is EASY and QUICK to clean, which is a huge selling point to me versus running multiple Drinkwells. Just my two cents

Can you post a picture of the cat it you mean? There are a lot!

We miss "Cheers" every day...she was a good dog. The best. Even the cats seem to really miss her - they keep sleeping on her bed, which they never did before.

Here she is - Ch. Cheer for Me - Welsh Corgi (P)

O.K. I took out a second morgage on the house - and purchased the Wellness Kitten food (canned) and the Wellness Kitten (dry kibble).

I added 1/2 teaspoon of the canned Wellness to each kiitens' bowl.......hoping to avoid poo-drama! They ate it right away - no problem.

I'll change the dry fod over in a couple of weeks

You can make it work. A lot of raw cat feeders will freeze food in meal size portions and set out one thawed and one frozen so that the cats get two meals a day once the second one thaws. Your cat sitters can do that too.
