I was at a friend's house and saw this little FRIENDLY wild bird:

Neither my husband, myself nor my friend (who hates it and wants it gone, would you believe) know what it is. We've never seen one! But it's sweet, curious, can fly, is friendly and makes a weird child screaming noise when chased.

Wow how can we have never seen this before the stuff says it's common!! I really love it! That explains why it kept staying still though! It wasn't friendly, just scared, haha!

Now to find out if I'm allowed to own some!! I want some in MY yard now. No fair someone who doesn't want them gets them!

Looks more like the dowitcher than the curlew to me.. Not that I know anything about what I'm looking at, just comparing pics. Pretty, anyway, and I'd encourage it to hang around, too.

When I lived in the Fla Keys it was not uncommon for cranes and herons to get so tame they would tap on the glass to be fed, and show up at fish cleaning time. Of course the brown penguins will crowd you off the dock when it's fish cleaning time.
