Young Rudy was a huge part of our spring and summer fun. And many tears of joy were shed as he went off on his own. There is a large herd that roams nearby although we don't know if he's joined them. We do see him with a herd of yearlings. Our home overlooks a huge thousand acre tract of farmland. We did have one fawn that didn't make it 4yrs ago, because of a birth defect he couldn't suck but that is just nature being fickle.. I tell my girls that sometimes God just needs those little souls to come back home, for reasons only He knows...

I have a small farm animal/equine rescue facility. I use the ponies and horses we get for free equine therapy for military children & folks with disabilities. When we moved here last year to be near my in-laws, I lost my part time job but we got more land (4.5 acres) and I started breeding Heritage Breed Poultry to sell eggs and bitties to help support us. I thought it would also be really great for young children to take a trip out and see where their eggs really come from and get a pony ride & history lesson in the bargain. Our area lost almost all of the large industry employers except for Walmart so I had to do something creative. I'm still working on it and I'm hoping to get some crowd funding to finish fences, get more pullets etc... But we love it and we know it will work, we just have to work at it.....
