Horses are nervous of a lot of things. Things that are brightly colored, things that flap in the wind, all kinds of odd things. LOL You don't want to be thrown off during a ride, so it is best to acclimate them to strange things if you can. Hopefully Old Chick will soon be riding over that tarp instead of being thrown over it! 

Oh I get it, it's kinda like puppies you get them used everthing possible. Old chick will conquer that mean old tarp.
