What is this chicken thinking?

They're actually OK with the cold. Remember, they are wearing down jackets. However, when it gets below 5° F (-15 C) it gets really hard for us humans to take care of them. Gotta bundle up and go out 3 or 4 times a day just to make sure their water isn't frozen, their poop freezes to the ground and the perches and is hard to clean up, etc... So, I just built a simple aviary in the studio, when it gets that cold again I'll bring them in for a few days, make my life easier. Added bonus, they can watch me work and critique what I'm doing.

It's four separate 8' x 8' panels, bolted together with wing nuts. So, end of the season, I just have to pull 8 wing nuts and the four panels will store flat against the wall, taking up very little space. Took about 8 hours and $100 in materials.

That is really cool, and I love the idea of birds watching (and critiquing, LOL) a sculptor at work. It seems so classical and mythological, like something from Ovid.
