What is this duck breed?

I have both black Swedish and Cayuga...and I’d say she may be a tad mix of both...somewhere down the line...but she’s a beautiful duck...they all are..enjoy them..they are wonderful animals that give soo much fun and excitement to your days!
Yes i think you're right. And yeah although i wanted cayuga, doesn't matter to me shes got so much personality! i just love her haha

View attachment 1998710 she could be a Cayuga mix. The females do start getting white feathers when they molt. The drake in this picture is a Cayuga/Rouen mix. He has a lot of brown feathers mixed in with the black. The rest are full Cayuga.
Im wondering if when she lays an egg that could help me determine, do cayuga mixes still have soot on the eggs? Ive been getting green eggs with black soot

I would say it could go either way. My mixed one is the drake. My girls lay really black eggs when they first start out. Fades to gray after a day or two and end up creamy white.
Here's one that's kinda in the gray stage

So i was told this duck is cayuga but the guy was given her and really didn't seem sure.. I kinda thought she was mixed with something. She has brownish spots on her back. Her bill and feet are orange. Shes much smaller than my cayuga and not as iridescent. But then tonight i got looking and saw a picture of a "Pomeranian" and i thought it looked just like her? But i really dont know at all how to tell. In these pics she is the one with the white chest. She's very like our duck and i believe she is a pomeranian.. our girl has a black beak and feet though with nice iridescent green sheen to her also with the white bib.. il try find some good pictures.. I googled the life out of her a thought the Pomeranian was the best fit but maybe im wrong??

That definitely isn't a purebred cayuga; it has a white bib. Many crossbred ducks look like that. Here are some possibilities, just going by color:

Pekin x Appleyard
Blue Runner x Rouen
Welsh Harlequin (silver) x chocolate runner
Cayuga x ???
Black Swedish x almost anything
etc.... many more combinations make this color.

So you can't go just by color. You have to factor in the shape and weight to narrow it down more. Even then, you'll probably never figure it out. It is very unlikely to be a rare breed such as pomeranian.

If it originally came from a hatchery then it is a black swedish. If it was bred in someone's yard it probably has a parent from at least one of the following breeds: pekin, cayuga, swedish, or black/blue/chocolate runner.
