I didn't know this. It looked abandoned since it's a bit cold and dirtyCheck your local laws regarding wildlife. In the US it's illegal to take or remove any wild egg as a lot of bird species are protected. Why did you take it? Some wild birds lay eggs on the ground, and don't have obvious-looking proper nests, but just lay on the ground. Maybe the mother bird took a break and went to look for food, and is now looking for her egg. Best to take it back and leave it where you found it. Wild eggs don't belong in people's incubators.
