Partridge has a few different definitions. Sometimes it means a pencilled partridge bird (this is the American definition usually), but can also just refer to unpenciled birds based on the partridge gene, and sometimes even just a gold duckwing (as in partridge welsummers).

Well he may well be the same pattern (black instead of blue). The males of partridge and duckwing/wildtype are nearly identical.
