I got kind of lost in this thread because I didn't follow the link. I just did, and had to read that twice. Yes, I can see how that picture (from Medical Quack) could be what I found. The one in my pond was different, but it wasn't removed and reserved by scientists the way this one is. Mine floated around for some time in the pond and was eventually fished out with a stick.

But I got two over the summer. How could that have happened?

I'll tell you this, I do have a duck who mounts the other duck. Could she have grown one somehow? I've had the ducks since birth (about 15 months ago) and the drake was new this season (about 5 months ago...before all the penis shedding). Is it possible that a duck could have developed a non-semen delivering male-like organ in the absence of a drake?
