I was searching for some bantams and came across this.. Does anyone know what it is used for? I have a female bantam that has a hole in the web of her foot. Was this what caused it? It was called a Toe Punch

Most likely. Usually breeders toe punch their ducks that they show.
I have a couple that I bought that are like that as well.

ive heard of these before some people use them for id purposes i think. but yes i would say that is what caused the hole in the chooks foot or something similar

Yes it is a Toe Punch and it is used for ID. Hurt?? Who really can say what hurts or not unless it happens to you. It would be closely similar to a baby girl getting here ears pierced. The quick action is typically preformed in the first week from hatch. It does not inhibit any action of the chick. Normally the small hole heals in the first day or so.
