So... I'm rather interested in Button Quail genetics and have been studying them for some time among my own.

But I have this one button quail, and I'm just confused why he doesn't look like the normal tuxedo. So.. what's his deal, genetically speaking?

Thank you all. I agree that he resembles blue face, but I'm surprised that he still hasn't produced a blue faced offspring. You're probably right.

Also, is a bluefaced-goldenpearl-tuxedo possible???

Blue-face gold-pearl is, both are dominant to wild-type. Tuxedo is possible too, if both parents contribute the recessive gene. Granted, I'm not sure you would know you have a blue face if the tuxedo completely washes out the face. I am attaching a blue-face/factor gold-pearl, and a tuxedo gold-pearl that I have bred within the past year.

Wow! That's cool! I wonder if he is all three, since his back feathers kind of look like the feathers of your first guy!

Really cool birds BTW both very pretty

I LOVE hatching out these little baby peeps! I lost my favorite tuxedo red-breast girl a while ago, so I am trying to hatch the last of her eggs out to keep tuxedo genetics going, even though I SWORE November was my last set.
