Well, let's compare notes some time! I have several pairs whose genetics (dominant and recessive) that I have been able to infer based on some of the more common phenotypes of their babes. @ravenslover is a fantastic source of knowledge too.

I really just started breeding my buttons this year so the whole process is pretty new to me. I got a colony from craigslist about two years ago, but I want to try breeding in pairs to see if I can spot their specific varieties and figure out how to get some cool things!

So... I'm rather interested in Button Quail genetics and have been studying them for some time among my own.

But I have this one button quail, and I'm just confused why he doesn't look like the normal tuxedo. So.. what's his deal, genetically speaking?

The dark head makes me feel red breasted tuxedo. I have several red breasted/darth Vaders that carry recessive white and it causes that splotchiness on the body. I have a red breasted cinnamon tux hen, and I’m pairing her to a cinnamon darth in hopes of one day producing a cinnamon darth that looks like yours but lighter.

It is an excellent book, I've had mine for years. Everything you could ever possibly want to know about button quail is covered in the book and probably more than you will likely ever need to know!

Very true even covers skeletal structure and ect even detailed drawings, I got mine autographed though idk if she does that for everyone ? Idk good luck getting ur book
