What is this?

I hope they do not destroy them if they can't place them. That will be a huge hit for the sandhills. So if anyone can take them please step up and call them.
In N.H.,Tony.
Thanks for the info Tony. Yeah, I'm like you hope they don't destroy them either. I really don't have any suitable place to keep them.
You know they winter here in South Texas, about a 1/4 mile from my place, is a huge oat field. There's around 100 to 200 Sandhills out in it everyday.

I know it's a crane or egret but does anyone know what species and country of orgin? Would love to have these!

Hey Sean,How about this?USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel, Maryland is closing its crane propagation program and is seeking immediate placement of approximately 40 Florida Sandhill Cranes and 40 Greater Sandhill Cranes. Most have been parent reared are wing clipped and are in breeding pairs. There are a few singles and juveniles available as well. Interested persons should contact Animal Care Coordinator Randy Mickley, 301-497-5602, [email protected] and cc Crane Flock Manager Brian Clauss, 240-786-2623, [email protected] N.H.,Tony.
I had contacted Brian back when they were shutting down and I was set to take 2-4 pair. Then he told me that the only ones left had health requirements like beak trimming, nail trimming, special supplements ect. I said I have been working with birds a while and that would be no problem at all. A few days later he told me they were all gone and had been taken care of. I am hoping they went to a good homes and not put down as I was ready and willing to take them. 😕
