What is this?

Actually...you guessed it, a cow! A Highland cow at the fair!

It's adorable! :love

I decided I want to live in Missouri.
what, because of Highland cattle? But they come from Scotland. You're closer to them there. Most of the cattle we see are Angus. ( I guess they're also from Scotland.) It's pretty boring here. Wheat, corn, soybeans, and angus cattle as far as the eye can see. Oh and we have chiggers, nasty little parasitic mites that are invisible but make you itch like crazy. All summer.

But atleast you have cattle-markets! It's illegal here and I miss them :'(
I loved going to them when young with my grandfather.

Cattle markets are illegal?

Yeah it´s thought of as animal cruelty because they are traveled back and forth and sold as ´pieces of meat´ (lol) and that is too stressfull for the cows/horses/etc. So it all goes through internet now if you are looking for high quality cattle.
It might be less stressull for them, and selling them through internet works fine (and it is also less work for you as cattle-breeder, not loading your cattle up every weekend), but I loved to vieuw all the different breeds irl. Seeing them on pictures is just not the same :p

I guess rodeos would be illegal too?

We never had rodeo's/bullfighting/horse-races/dog-races/cockfights/horse-polo/orka shows etc. here or some sport with (big) animals except horse-dressage and sport-pidgeons (we are boring). But if we did they were probably illegal indeed :p They are now protesting horses in knight-shows in amusement parks.. cirsusses aren't allowed to work with exotic animals, only dogs I believe, etc. They are even protesting horse living in the wild that die off during harsh winters.. And killing exotic plague animals that are a threath to the environment and thus other animals..There is now a protest going on; 7 years ago people 'freed' tame rabbit from a petting-zoo where they were really well kept; they multiplies and now they are a plague, they don't have natural enemies, but because they are with so many they are a thread to other rodents living in nature that eat the same food... some endangered species.. But killing bunny's is horrible offcourse.. sigh. But the same protesters aren't exactly offering their homes to give these rabbits a shelter..
I'm all against animal-cruelty. A circus can still be interesting without elephants and tigers.. But we have seen to be lost with nature sometimes; not really knowing what animal-cruelty is anymore or what is nature. We seem to vieuw any animals as 'pets'. If they resemble pets only offcourse..
