It’s a trussing needle ... used by butchers for trussing up turkeys, hams, etc

They are actually on a comeback right now, and sold for silly prices. Since coocking retro/vintage/old-fashioned way is having some comeback now, and thus stuffed Turkeys, hams, and such, you see these things going for prices as if they are some unique special rare old wine :') (sell it now if you want to get rid of it; or give it for me for freeeee since I'm too cheapskate to spend 50 dollars on this while knitting needles also do the trick to sow some stuffed meat up, Or a 2 dollar scalpel and that gives you that extra 'I'm an ER doctor! feel'.).
 
Here's an item from our basement...there are several of them and I only recently realized what they are for. This farm has been in DH' s family for 3 generations, so there are many undiscovered resources....
