This site has a weird glitch ( at least the mobile version of the site ) as to how it loads pages... I missed several guesses earlier due to it loading my reply at the end of the page that I was on... even though there was another page (or pages)...

Probably not a big deal most of the time... but on this thread where replies are sometimes ‘quick fire’ it causes me some confusion too

I use my iPhone 90% of the time on here.

Nope... but that’s getting closer maybe

So far it’s been established that it’s for extracting something, that it is hunting/shooting related, and that Daniel Boone could have used this if he were having a bad day... if it had existed ( not sure if there was something similar back then or not)

this is for when Mr Boone had his flintlock loaded but got his powder wet by hunting bears in the rain ... or got distracted and forgot to put powder in at all.

Nope it’s extracting something from the rifle.... Think about how old flintlock ( aka muzzleloaders ) we’re loaded... and then think about what you’d need to do if the gun powder got wet... or if it was mistakenly left out

Yep....

So since muzzleloader bullets must come out the same end they went in ( with the exception of some more recent modern designs) ... if the powder is no good or was omitted you can’t get the bullet out, at least not easily...

...but if you have one, you can screw that little doodad into the end of the ramrod and then twist it into the lead ball or bullet and then pull it back out...

I’ve never had to do it... and haven’t shot a muzzleloader in years... but found that thing the other day looking for something else, and thought of this thread
