“Hay” you’re “punny”...

Yep, it’s a loose ‘hay lift’ or ‘hay loader’...

It gathered hay and loaded it onto a wagon ... here’s one in action:

That’s a terrible example their. His drawbar is too long. The loader needs to be closer to the wagon,,, not
a two wheel trailer,,, you still had a person on the wagon (my job) to stack and pack the hay.


Also we had ours pulled the other way. The loader was in front of the rack. However, that might have been a modification my Dad made. Because with the loader behind one person could drive the horses and stack hay.

I looked at a couple of videos for an example ... the weak wind row was what stood out to me...lol

The horse drawn vids was what I was looking for...but I didn’t find a good one that really showed the working of the machine... but I got distracted and ended up watching some horse drawn PTO equipment vids ...

If I did the cipherin right...
a quick calculation of the magazine price vs saw price of that time extrapolated to the current times based on $5 magazine price today, put that saw costing $8,650 in today’s money! ...

Using $6 for today’s magazine cover price made it $10,380 in today’s money!

I don't know what this is. I found it while cleaning up and sorting stuff to throw away. DH said, Don't throw that away, it looks like it might be useful. I asked him what it was, and he said, I don't know, put it on the what is it thread and see if someone knows.

If I had to replace my saw it’d be about $700 today... but that’s far cheaper in today’s money than that one was at that time...

Probably a much better saw too... with 65 years worth of engineering and redesigns we would hope...

...and I bet that thing vibrated your gizzards loose!....not to mention the weight...

...I complain about my saw being heavy sometimes and it only weighs 13 lbs!

Didn’t have any of the safety features we have today either...

... we have it made today in so, so many ways!

Its almost certainly a gate eye bolt... or at least that’s what I would look for if I were trying to replace it... but i don’t have a clue on the shape as to why... so maybe not....

“Don’t throw it away... it looks useful”.... those are seven words that take up a lot of space around here
