What is this?

Do both the coops connect to the same run? 5 feet in the run is, in my opinion, too small. My birds have 50 feet each in the run. General guideline is 10 feet, more if your having issues.

Photos of your setup?

What is the percent of protein in the feed? 16%? 18%? 20%? More? Less?
My run is 280 square foot. For eleven chickens I misspoke saying five sq. No they do not connect. This is our first issue ever. Thank you for your feed back

This is not related to worms, and with all that space in your run its not bullying. What brand and kind of feed are you fermenting? I'm thinking protein deficiency but it could also very well be live/mites. You said you saw no signs of lice or mites though, so it's probably not that.
Feathers have protein, so if your feeding a feed with a lower protein amount, (18%, 16%) then that may be the problem as they will eat each others feathers for extra protein. I would switch to a 20% protein feed and see if that helps if you aren't giving that much protein already.

We use Dumor 16percent in proteins from Tractor Supply add corn and oats to ferment. which brings the protein up quite a bit. We’ve never had this issue and it Crazy. I am going to switch out my feed and see if that helps. We also did treat for mites. It has been our first chicken illness and I appreciate your help so much!
