We bought two chicks at the feed store. I asked for laying hens. They told me the breed but I totally forgot one when we got home. Two weeks later I went in, pointed to the box and asked what it was. I was to a Guinea and that they were not sexed. I wasn’t happy. I was surprised when the chick grew real slow. At 12 weeks, it is still small. It has long silky feathers, gray feet, very skittish despite frequent handling. Today it started acting like a rooster. Challenging the other birds.

It is most likely a female. Even hens challenge and attack other hens or even roosters every now and again, especially when they are about this age.

Good to hear. They have outgrown the small cage they are in and we’re headed to the coop. I hope more space helps.

yeah, I have noticed that my hens act much happier when they are old enough to move out with everyone else.
