Thanks! The issue is I have no idea which mama laid it! I will try and keep an eye on them going forward….It's an egg with a tail. I'm not being funny, that's what it is.
It's a hard shelled egg with a membrane attached. Likely what you'll find in the liquid attached membrane is albumin (egg white) and possibly a meat or blood spot.
Interesting that the membrane has some twist in it. This shows the rotation/inversion of an egg in the shell gland before she laid it. An egg in the shell gland is pointy end first, but is rotated to blunt end right before it's expelled. Cool huh?
It's good that she expelled all of that intact. Is she acting normal?
I'd call it a glitch if all seems well. IF she's acting off, then I'd give extra calcium for a couple of days.
