What is this?

hi all wondering if anyone knows what this is? My chicken had a prolapsed vent last week its managed to go back in after 5 days, yesterday i see her struggling to lay and brought her back in from the others but this was there its about 2cm long and looks rubbery thanks x

If she appears unwell she can be treated with doxycycline.

If it's infectious material, should OP remove it from access of any of their other birds and I'm assuming wash their hands throughly? In fact, maybe pick it up in a small bag? I've never seen this before so not sure, but I'm assuming, because you said infectious, it should be removed from the area quickly?

It is not necessary to move it immediately from the area but I can't imagine just leaving it there either. It's mostly sloughed off cells and exudates from the oviduct infection.
I had a hen that laid two small lash eggs when she was a year old. She never showed any signs of distress and I did not treat her for it. She is now 6.5 years old and still laying eggs.
If the bird is acting off in any way, then I would treat her.

In the States we get it from online pets supply stores that sell medication for pond or aquarium fish or for pigeons. Try that.

Thank you ill look now yes shes definitely not well the amount of water she keeps drinking since yesterday is noy normal i have put vitamins in the water and tried natural antibiotics but she does not like it, i have removed the lash egg and the hen from rest of them x
