Not 100% certain, but to me it looks like ingrown feathers.
Its on her Sternum, I gave her a bath and it looks almost closed? It doesn't look like feathers or anything ...Where is this located on the chicken?
It may be an ingrown feather. It may also be a clogged preen glan.
It's probably a sore from rubbing while roosting, my Brahma gets these occasionallyIts on her Sternum, I gave her a bath and it looks almost closed? It doesn't look like feathers or anything ...
Is there anything I can do for it?It's probably a sore from rubbing while roosting, my Brahma gets these occasionally
Looks like an infected feather pore thats backed up. squeeze the stuff out and put neosporin original, (without pain killer in it.) Hard to tell what part of the chicken its on but if its somewhere that touches the ground you may want to wrap it or spray it with some aluminum spray. Thats what the farm vets use for animals in the field. Its probably just an overgrowth of feather cells.I just noticed this today, my hen is acting normal, eating well. Any ideas![]()
I usually clean it up, leave it be, and keep an eye on it. She's never had one that opened up like that, so I could be completely wrong. Is there anything I can do for it?
