I got a couple dozen eggs from someone local and this person claimed they were all barred rock eggs but I knew better. With only 4 br hens in her flock I didn't see that it was possible to get 2 dozen eggs in 3 days but I didn't care the eggs were cheap....anyways only 4 br hatched and some of the rest are mysteries to me. Half of them are buff orps but there are three that look like this one that I don't know what they are. Help please.

I was afraid that it was a mix. The little buffs look to be pure, and so do the barred rock and reds. The only chickens she had were Barred rocks, buff orps, silver laced wyandotte, and production reds. The funny thing is none of these that hatched look like reds. Now that I think about it I would guess it was her SLW over a red or buff. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Thanks

Well, the egg will taste just as good!

I'd love to know too, as I have two of the same! Similar situation and the lady I spoke to said she thought they were wyandottes. They have a straight comb, do yours? Only info I could find wasn't what I wanted to hear, that if It was a SLW hen and a RIR roo they'd be sexlinked and these coloring would be the males.
