The sack inside was not penetrated. The egg was not cracked. It's almost like the blemish crumbled.
 
I think you can see a smaller one next to it towards the top of the egg..it looks to be a "patch" of extra calcium and shell which can chip off leaving a "pothole."

This happens from time to time, and is nothing to worry about unless it begins to happen a lot with one bird...that can indicate some defect in the egg tract/shell gland.
