Found this in a nesting box with my eggs today?

I can see 2 eyes a funny nose and no mouth. =D=D=D

But on a serious note. cut it open and investigate. Looks like a potato.

It is probably a lash egg. It can be a product of an internal layer. Here is some info along with many pictures:

I think it is probably a Lash egg also.

Do you have the stomach for cutting it open and checking it out?

Good question!

From what I understand, it could be related to hormonal changes, start of laying, end of laying etc or even can be seen when a hen is returning to laying after being broody.

But, it could also be a sign of issues with the oviduct, inflammation, infection etc.

Do you have any idea which of your hens may have laid it?

I have never experienced a lash egg but if you know who laid it, I would be keeping a very close eye on her for any signs to indicate she is not well.
